Darrell Sedgewick Will Address Mineral Society


   Dr. Darrell Sedgewick of Capitola will be the principal speaker for the January 11th meeting of the Santa Cruz Mineral and Gem society at Soquel Congregational church had at 7:30 o'clock.
   Dr. Sedgwick will discuss some of his favorite specimens from his large collection of minerals and gems. He will also show colored slides on "The Working of Jade." All members who attended the society's field trip to the jade deposits below Monterey may be able to gains some technical information on the cutting of this kind of rock. Jade, either jadeite or nephrite, has been one of the stones that has interested man throughout the centuries.

   Christmas was celebrated by the group with a large potluck dinner, appropriate decorations, entertainment and interesting and instructive movies. New members welcomed into the society iinclude Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Archibaldd, Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Harris and H. M. Jamison. Membership is open to everyone interested in rocks.
